First Khutbah
Summary of today's Khutbah
This Jumuʿah khutbah reflects on the powerful verse:
*﴿ لَّا خَيْرَ فِي كَثِيرٍ مِّن نَّجْوَاهُمْ إِلَّا مَنْ أَمَرَ بِصَدَقَةٍ أَوْ مَعْرُوفٍ أَوْ إِصْلَاحٍ بَيْنَ النَّاسِ ﴾*
“There is no good in much of their private conversations, except for those who encourage charity, goodness, or reconciliation between people.”
Surah An-Nisa 4:114
The khutbah reminds the community that not every private conversation is beneficial. Many conversations can lead to gossip, suspicion, backbiting, division, or harm. However, Allah guides us to three types of speech that bring reward and blessing: encouraging charity, promoting goodness, and reconciling between people.
Through Qur’anic guidance, authentic hadith, and stories from the life of the Prophet ﷺ and his companions, the khutbah highlights the importance of using our words to heal hearts, protect people’s honour, support those in need, and strengthen unity within families and the community.
It also reminds us that true believers speak with sincerity, wisdom, and the intention of seeking Allah’s pleasure.
