Summary of today's Khutbah
This khutbah explores how the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ nurtured, respected, educated, and empowered the women and girls around him, recognising their different strengths and giving them meaningful roles in the Muslim community.
Through examples from the lives of prominent female Companions such as Khadijah, ‘A’ishah, Hafsah, Umm Salamah, Asma’ bint Abi Bakr, Nusaybah bint Ka‘b, al-Shifa’ and others, the khutbah highlights women’s contributions in scholarship, teaching, consultation, family leadership, healthcare, charity, community service, courage, communication, and support of the Islamic mission.
A central message of the khutbah is that strong Muslim communities develop the potential of both men and women. The Prophetic model teaches parents, educators, imams and community leaders to recognise the unique abilities of girls from a young age, strengthen their faith and character, provide them with beneficial knowledge and skills, and prepare them to contribute positively to their families, communities and society.
The khutbah calls upon Muslim families and institutions to raise a generation of women who are deeply connected to Allah and the Qur’an, confident in their Islamic identity, educated, compassionate, skilled, responsible, courageous and ready to serve the Ummah.
