In this khutbah, we will reflect on the importance of maintaining family ties, kinship, the great rewards promised by Allah for those who uphold them, the severe warning against severing them, and practical ways to strengthen our relationships with our relatives for the sake of Allah.
Allah subhanaho ta’la said in the Quran.
وَاعْبُدُوا اللَّهَ وَلَا تُشْرِكُوا بِهِ شَيْئًا ۖ وَبِالْوَالِدَيْنِ إِحْسَانًا وَبِذِي الْقُرْبَى…
Worship Allah and associate nothing with Him, and be good to parents and to relatives.
(Surah Fāṭir 35:37)
