1st Khutbah at 12:45 PM -by Imam Hatem Saad
This week’s khutbah explored the serious spiritual and worldly consequences of earning and investing in haram (forbidden) sources. The Prophet ﷺ warned that a time would come when people would no longer care whether their income was from halal or haram. Today, many fall into this trap — through interest-based investments, unethical business, or careless financial decisions.
The khutbah highlighted:
- How haram income blocks the acceptance of dua and worship.
- Its destructive impact on family, children, and barakah.
- The danger of investing in haram sectors such as riba (interest), alcohol, and gambling.
- Real-life consequences in this world, the grave, and the Day of Judgment.
Key Qur'anic Verse:
﴿ إِنَّمَا يَتَقَبَّلُ اللَّهُ مِنَ الْمُتَّقِينَ ﴾ –
“Indeed, Allah accepts only from the righteous.” [Al-Ma’idah: 27]
Key Hadith:
"A man raises his hands in du’a, but his food is haram, his drink is haram, his clothing is haram – how will his dua be answered?" [Muslim]
Action Points:
- Be conscious of your source of income.
- Avoid haram contracts and interest-based investments.
- Make tawbah and purify your wealth through charity.
- Teach your family the value of halal rizq.
May Allah grant us barakah in our earnings and protect us from haram, ameen.
