Summary of today's Khutbah
This week’s khutbah we will reflect on the dignity and honour that Islam gives to the elderly. Aging is a natural stage created by Allah, and our elders deserve respect, kindness, patience, and care.
The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ said:
لَيْسَ مِنَّا مَنْ لَمْ يَرْحَمْ صَغِيرَنَا وَيُوَقِّرْ كَبِيرَنَا
“He is not one of us who does not show mercy to our young and respect to our elderly.”
— Sunan At-Tirmidhi
Serving and supporting the elderly brings Allah’s mercy in this life and becomes a blessing for us when we grow old.
Dua:
O Allah, grant mercy, health, and comfort to our elderly. Fill our hearts with kindness, patience, and respect towards them. Bless us in our youth and bless us in our old age. Make us among those who honour others and are honoured by You. Ameen.
