Following the meeting with the AFP on 18 December 2025, the Canberra Muslim Community (CMC) Executive Committee (EC) met again with AFP representatives on 23 January 2026 at Gungahlin Mosque.
The EC expressed its appreciation for the increased police visibility during key prayer times and requested that this presence be maintained and, where possible, strengthened.
· Friday prayers (1 pm to 3 pm)
· Evening and night prayers (8 pm to 10:30 pm)
· Early morning Fajr prayer (around 5:15 am)
The AFP was also informed that Ramadan is expected to begin on or around 18 February 2026, during which a significant increase in attendance is anticipated, particularly during Iftar and nightly Tarawih prayers. In light of this, the EC requested enhanced police patrols throughout the month of Ramadan to support community safety.
The CMC EC reaffirmed its commitment to continued cooperation with the AFP.
