First Khutbah
Summary of today's Khutbah
The first ten days of Dhū al-Ḥijjah are the greatest days of the entire year — so sacred that Allāh ﷻ swore an oath by them in Sūrah al-Fajr, and so blessed that the Prophet ﷺ declared righteous deeds performed in them more beloved to Allāh than even Jihād in His path.
At the heart of these days stands the timeless story of Ibrāhīm and Ismāʿīl ﷺ — a father and son who surrendered everything to Allāh without hesitation — reminding every Muslim that true obedience transforms ordinary moments into eternal legacy. The Companions understood this deeply; Ibn ʿUmar and Abū Hurayrah رضي الله عنهما would walk into the marketplace making Takbīr aloud, filling the air around them with the remembrance of Allāh. For Muslim Australians in Canberra and beyond, these ten days are a complete reset — a divine invitation to pray every Ṣalāh on time, fast especially on the Day of ʿArafah which expiates two years of sins, fill every morning and evening with Takbīr and Istighfār, give daily Ṣadaqah, recite the Qur'ān, offer Uḍḥiyyah, and gather your family in the remembrance of Allāh — so that when the day of ʿĪd arrives, you stand among those whom Allāh boasted about to His angels and freed from the Fire.
