Foundation of Islamic belief: Tawḥīd - by Imam Hatem Saad

First Khutbah at 12:45 PM -by Imam Hatem Saad

This khutbah emphasizes the foundation of Islamic belief: Tawḥīd (the Oneness of Allah). It explores two powerful Qur’anic verses:

“So know that there is no deity except Allah.” (47:19)

“Those who believe and do not mix their belief with injustice (shirk) will have security and guidance.” (6:82)

The khutbah clarifies the correct Islamic understanding of tawassul (seeking a means to Allah), distinguishing between:

Permissible forms, such as:

  • Calling upon Allah using His names and attributes,
  • Seeking closeness through righteous deeds,
  • Asking a living righteous person to make duʿā’.

Impermissible forms, such as:

  • Tawassul through the dead,
  • Asking the Prophet ﷺ or Ahl al-Bayt after their death,
  • Believing that saints or righteous people can intercede without Allah's permission.

The khutbah affirms the love and respect for Ahl al-Bayt, especially ʿAlī, Fāṭimah, al-Ḥasan, and al-Ḥusayn (may Allah be pleased with them), but without exaggeration or innovation.
