Please Donate to the CMC Halal Food Pantry

Great News!

With the permission of Allah, the CMC has established the first Canberra halal food pantry to support vulnerable Muslim families and individuals, who are struggling with the rising cost of living.

Help your community by:

  • donating food and other grocery items,
  • placing items in clean shopping bags which will then be recycled when groceries are collected from the food pantry,
  • dropping off your generous donations at the Gungahlin Masjid Veranda Areas (140 The Valley Avenue, Gungahlin)after 15 March 2023,
  • telling those in need about the food pantry so they may benefit.

Please donate non-perishable groceries that are contained in resistant packaging or are unappealing to rodents. For example:

  • tinned foods (e.g., tomatoes, lentils, beans, fruit, chickpeas)
  • items in glass containers (e.g., tomato paste, sauces, jams, fruit)
  • bread spreads (e.g., peanut butter, honey)
  • hygiene products (e.g., soap, shampoo, conditioner, toothpaste)
  • cleaning products (e.g., bleach, detergent, disinfectant)
  • oil
  • long life milk
  • juice
  • toilet paper
  • washing powder
  • bandaids
  • tea
  • coffee
  • and other similar items

Note, that the supply of these more expensive items would then allow those in need to purchase more affordable groceries such as flour, sugar, pasta, and rice as needed.

We will keep you updated with future plans such as the purchase of a fridge and freezer to be able to offer frozen foods, and to store Udhiyah meat for collection after Eid Al Adhah, InSha’Allah.
