Fazlul Bari

Fazlul has been involved in community services work in Canberra since he first arrived in 2000.

He has been involved in wide variety of projects and services offered by the Canberra Islamic School (CIS – Sunday school at Yarralumla Mosque) in areas of Sunday School Governance, design curriculum, arrange excursion, Ramadan activities for kids as the community service.

On the professional front, Fazlul is a highly accomplished IT Professional with particular strengths in IT Systems Performance, project management and stakeholder engagement skills which he has been consistently demonstrating in delivering outcomes throughout his work with the Australian Government. In 2014, Fazlul was awarded the "Secretary Pinnacle Award" due to his services to the Australian Government and his contribution to the myGov project.

Mainul Haque

Mainul has been an active member of the Canberra Muslim community over the last 24 years and has a solid understanding of the grass root concerns of Canberra Muslims. His community contributions include:

Mainul holds a Bachelor of Economics (Hons) from the International Islamic University, Malaysia and Post Graduate studies in Economics from Canada and management qualifications from Australia.

Mainul has more than 20 years of working experience primarily in the public sector in management positions at the Australian Federal Government, acquiring extensive experience and knowledge of the Australian Government from an operations and policy perspective.

His particular interests include refugee rights, involvement of Muslim youths in community activities and engagements of Muslims with broader communities as well as human rights and alleviating racism and discrimination.

Anis Jalal

Jalal Anis has been involved with Gungahlin mosque project in his professional capacity since he moved to Canberra in 2009. From the very beginning he has been providing technical & professional support to Canberra Muslim Community (CMC), ranging from negotiating with the ACT government for the land to designing the mosque complex.

With immense passion for good architectural design, he has been involved in wide variety of community projects both in Canberra and in Sydney. Other than architectural contributions, Jalal has also been involved with various community organisations that promote culture and harmony in the Canberra community.

On the professional front, Jalal has been working as an architect for the last 17 years and has vast experience in various types of projects including residential, commercial, educational, and institutional and so on. Jalal hold a Masters Degree in Urban Development & Design from the University of New South Wales (UNSW), Sydney. Before that he acquired his Bachelor degree in Architecture from Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET), Dhaka, Bangladesh.

Over the years, Jalal has been involved with various community organisations which include,

  • - Secretary, Canberra Muslim Community Inc. Gungahlin (2015 to Current).
  • - Vice President, Bangladesh Australia Association Canberra Inc.  (2015 to Current).
  • - President, Bangladeshi Architects in Australia (BAA), 2011-2012
  • - Member, Institute of Architects Bangladesh (IAB)

Abdul Salam

Abdul Salam Durrani (Abdussalam) is a commerce graduate from University of Mumbai and has been working as an IT professional for the last 15 years.

He has been a Canberra resident for the last 5 years and have been actively involved in various community projects during this time.

He has coordinated and co-organised EID Salah & EID Festivals for both EID Ul Fitr / EId Ul Adha to accommodate upto 1500 people.

He has around 5 year experience working in non profit organisations undertaking community development work. He has also helped in organising Mosque Open Days and family and youth activities in the community.

His hobbies include fishing, swimming & Cricket.

Br Sohail Rai

Sohail Rai

Sohail has been involved in the community works from the last six years in Canberra. Along with CMC he is also an active member of Islamic Forum of Australian Muslims ACT Chapter (IFAM-ACT). He has organized and managed various community projects especially for Islamic knowledge of kids in Canberra like "Islamic Quiz" competitions and "Hifz and Tajweed" programs. He has also been involved with the construction of Queanbeyan Masjid.

Professionally he is civil engineer with Doctorate in Environmental Engineering. He has been working in the fields of project management, water resources management, strategic management and policy development.
